History has been written: the 33-25 victory over Japan proved enough for the Dutch women’s national handball team to earn a ticket to the Olympics – and this with one more match to go. As a proud main sponsor, Cocoa from Ghana congratulates the players, the staff, and the Netherlands Handball Association on this fantastic achievement!
Tomorrow, on the last day of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in the French city of Metz, the Dutch ladies will play against Tunisia. The prognosis is favourable: Team Oranje has competed against this African opponent seven times before and won every match.
But most importantly: the team have already hauled in the loot! Whatever the result tomorrow, as the group winner of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the Netherlands will be going to Rio in 2016! Another advantage is that Oranje will avoid world champion Norway in the group phase. The top-ranked team in this Olympic Qualifying Tournament will rightly arrive during the draw in the so-called first pot. This draw is set to take place on 1 May in Rio de Janeiro.
